Healthy Teeth During COVID

2020 has been one crazy year. We all have had to adjust to a new “normal.” Our day to day lives were interrupted by COVID. People are staying in more and skipping routine appointments, such as their yearly dental cleaning.

While we understand the reasoning behind it, we want to encourage all of our patients to still come in for your yearly dental appointment. Ideal Image has new safety protocols and health guidelines to keep our patients safe during their visit. If you’re one of our patients who are high risk and would like to wait for your yearly dental cleaning, here are a few reminders to keep your teeth healthy during this time.

  1. Brush TWICE a day! We know you’ve heard it before. Probably many times. However, brushing your teeth each morning and before bed helps keep plaque off those pearly whites. No plaque = no bacteria in your mouth.
  2. Floss. No, but seriously…floss. We know it can be a pain. It takes a few extra minutes of your day, but it is so important to overall dental health. Flossing rids your mouth of leftover food from the day. If those food particles stay there, they start to decay the teeth and can cause gingivitis (gum disease).
  3. Use fluoride toothpaste. This is SO important to keep your teeth strong. Fluoride protects your tooth enamel. Make sure to look for it with whatever toothpaste you buy.

2020 is thankfully coming to a close. We are slowly getting back to what “normal” was. Of course, we would love to see you in for your yearly dental cleaning, but understand if circumstances keep you at home for the time being.
