Our New Normal: Updated Coronavirus Safety Procedures

We are in unprecedented times. No one could have imagined that we would be dealing with a global pandemic affecting everyone we know and interrupting our day-today life in such an extreme way. Terms like “social distancing” and “face masks” have become our new normal during the day. While this time feels overwhelming and scary to many, we want to assure our patients their health and safety is our main priority.

Dental offices are in a unique position with this coronavirus pandemic. According to the CDC, COVID-19 is “spread mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Spread is more likely when people are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) [source].”

This puts you and your dentist in a unique position. At Ideal Image Dentistry & Spa, we understand how every move we make is critical to the safety and health of our patients. Because of the increased risk, we have instated new safety and health guidelines that follow the ADA and CDCs recommendations.

New and previously existing safety measures [source]:

  • Face masks by all staff in addition to face shields
  • Eye protection
  • Hand-washing upon entering exam room and exiting the exam room
  • New gloves upon entering exam room
  • Exam rooms entirely disinfected and cleaned after each patient including all cabinets, counters and chairs
