Lasers in Dentistry

It may be surprising to learn that lasers have been used in dental practices since 1989 [source]. Dental lasers are used in a variety of treatments including treating tooth decay, gum disease or teeth whitening. At Ideal Image Dentistry & Spa, we are proud to offer the Solea Dental Laser.

The Solea Dental Laser uses light energy guided by a computer to deliver safe and almost pain-free dental procedures to the teeth and gums. There are no needles or drills used making it the preferred treatment option for most patients. It takes the drill, needle and the noise out of your dental appointment! We commonly use the Solea laser for cavities and dental fillings.

During this time of COVID, we love to utilize the Solea laser as the preferred treatment option as it significantly reduces the risk of virus and bacteria transmission. This is done by reducing the splatter created during traditional dental procedures. Fewer particles floating in the air = few germs and viruses!

FAQs

How does the laser work?
The Solea Dental Laser is controlled by a computer to safely vaporize the hard (teeth) and soft (gums) tissues in the mouth. Your dentist can accurately and quickly treat the problem area!

Does it hurt?
Most of our patients report feeling little to nothing during the treatment while a few mention a cold-like sensation.

Is it safe for kids?
Yes! The Solea Laser is safe for all ages. Most times, the laser is a great option for your child’s dental care as it eliminates the noise and drilling done with traditional treatment methods.
